confusion

I had engine lite come on. Took car to autozone. Code was p0420.or something like that. Said eather o2 sensor or sensors or cat was bad. Took to a shop had put on dino and came back that the cat was bad also gap is slightly off on plugs. Now the confusion comes in I thought that performance decreases ie. Has hard time going up hills or other responsive issues. My car has none of these. My gas milage is a little rough but that could be just the plugs. Can a cat be partial fail or full fail. I'm lost help plz.

a failed cat wont hurt performance really...just eat ur gas milage. depending on HOW you cat has failed, there could actually be some HELP (not that you would notice) performance wise.

Well......so just because I was a little confused that does not mean that I did not notice anything. Yes car kinda respnds netter oddly at higher rpms. Ok. So I get a cat from gegs pay 140 free shipping bolt on myself. Ty for the help.

Good luck with that.

What state do you live in, is this thing full of rust.

You can plan on replacing all the bolts, most likely going to need a torch to cut the old ones out, thats what I do, make it easy for me.

It isnt just going to unbolt and rebolt right up like you are thinking

Rob you are right. Did not think about having to cut off the bolts. I'm in seattle. Around here its like 500.00 to replace cat in a shop. And I think it was 156.00 in jags web site. Not bad price considering. If I lived in caly id have to replace 2 cats and that's like 1200 here. But I regress. Hopefully its not that hard of a replacement ty.
