This is what my noise is....the guy that posted it said it was the cams?

What does he mean and does anyone else recognize this problem?

It is a 2.4 liter.

Please write back. Thanks all.

Yeah...no.

Guy said it was lifter / cam area. I have the same problem and did all my rod bearings.

The noise is rpm sensitive, once you reach 2500, it rattles and gets worse as you go higher.

Rod knock noise is evident from startup

The video you posted, the "knock" can be heard as soon as it starts. The reason I went with rod knock....

Do you have a video of your car sound, so we know what yours sounds like?

Yeah...anyway....

No one has any ideas huh?

How do I check the cam and lifters on the 2.4?

Do i have to remove the timing housing, the cam gears?

That is a rod knock.

I am replacing the motor on the 2000 Z right now. Exact same thing. This is not my first time around with these cars either.

These motors have a common problem with the #3 bearing.

You really should listen to the advice you get from knowledgeable members here instead of blowing it off because it is not what you want to hear.

Or if you want to remain thick headed, As Ecocav said, Enjoy your knock

not blowing it off.

When I replaced the bearings...number 3 was not spun at all.

Heres another one... Listen to the noise - read the video comments...they all said it was the cam on one of of the lifters.

I watched the second video... the comments even said its a rod.

"im betting its the #3 rod bearing"
"Sounds like a rod knock"
"Thats definatly a rod bearing probably the #3 rod"
"its a 2.4 !!!!!!!!! theres the 1st problem. the knock is ROD KNOCK."

How about a video if YOUR engine knocking? Not others that sound kinda like it.
