oil under IDI cover 2.4L

I went to go take a look at spark plugs to see how they were doing after 80k. While I was in there I found a whole bunch of oil in the valley in between the cams. All of the oil seems to pool around the 1st spark plug (closest to timing chain). I dried it all up and checked the 1st plug, it looks perfect. I didn't see any evidence of leaks on the cam covers and around the oil pressure sensor. My plan right now is to drive it for a week ,take it all off again and check. Is there a spot on the 2.4L that leaks in this area?

yea its pretty normal on the quad4 engines. the cam towers and their covers are very prone to leaks popping up on the inside there. its a pretty big job to replace those gaskets and seals and involves removing the timing chain (for starters). as long as it isn't pissing out from anywhere badly, or causing any other problems i'd just let it be and keep a good eye on the oil level.

The cam towers do like to leak, but from what you explained sounds more like the oil sending unit.

im gonna take a look at it again later on , tighten down the bolts on the cam cover. I will take a good look at the oil pressure sensor even though I have replaced it already.

checked the oil pressure sensor it's leaking through the connector. It's weird cause last time it leaked on the same way and I tons of oil on the driveway. This time is gathering in b/w the cams, very weird.

Also check the bolts holding the idi cover, if they arent tightened down right they will leak oil as well.
