I have this weird ticking sound... don't think its timing belt cause its not crazy loud





also if you in the york pa area and want to help or look at it, it would be greatly appreciated

Looks like the front main seal. Behind the harmonic balancer, where it meets the timing chain cover. But it could be the timing chain cover as well... hard to tell unless you take it apart.

And you don't have a timing belt.. they're all chains on J-body cars.

any ideas on what it would cost to fix
the rear main seal?

Repair could be a bit pricey but without knowing exactly what is wrong or where the leak (if any) is at, I couldn't give you a ballpark figure on how much.

Rear main seal is at the OTHER end of the motor.....

I would guess it is the crank pulley seal. Cheap to buy can be a pain to install. As said could be the timing chain housing gasket. Not too pricey, but will take a little time to replace, but not bad to do. Might be best to pull timing chain housing cover and replace both.
