Last week or so I started hearing a clunking noise when I go over bumps and such. I honestly thought all along it was my STB hitting the hood and just didn't notice it before.
Well I was installing my new stereo this weekend and had the hood opened. When I pushed down on the car I noticed that clunking sound. it is certainly coming from the driver side of the car.
I didn't get a chance to look into that issue deeper due to it getting dark outside. From what I could see I didn't notice anything broken like a sway-bar end link which I suspected. Could it be a mount?
Most likely going to tear at it this weekend so just wondering what I should be looking for if there is something common on these cars that break and make a noise like that.

It's your strut mount. Super common problem with these cars. If you're looking for a permanent solution look into the solid mounts from
http://www.overkillengineeringmotorsports.com, although the ride will be stiffer. Otherwise you can buy them individually from any parts store. If you want to replace it yourself, you'll need to use a spring compressor or you'll get @!#$ up.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I honestly thought that could be it also. However when I push down on the car and listen it sounds like it is down lower near the LCA instead of up top where the strut mount is?
Who knows I guess I will know better when I actually take a closer look.

Another very common issue with these cars are the sway bar bushings. I would also check those too. Once they go bad, you can get all kinds of "GHOST" noises. Goodluck!!
Check the lower control arm bushings as well. The rear bushing on the lower control arm or "A" arm commonly tears out. Once apon a time, I would recommend replacing the entilre control arm, however, almost every auto parts store (at least my area) sells the replacement bushing for around $10 to $15.AutoZone.com has it for $9.99. The part number they list is FB782. Through personal experience, it really isn't that hard to replace. Be careful though that once the old bushing is out, there may still be the steel ring in the control arm that the bushing is molded in and that needs to come out before you install the new bushing. And when installing the new bushing, use red loctite to lubricate the bushing so that is slides in easier. Once it is in and the loctite dries, it will be set and the new bushing will not fall out. In fact, the loctite will be dry by the time you set the car back on the ground, and you'll be good to go.
Some people have brain storms, others light drizzles. And then there are those that have droughts.
