I would have to say no. I work for Napa, and just looked into my computer and there not the same numbers. One big diffrence is the pulley, the 2.4 is a 5 groove pulley, and the 3.1 is a 6 groove pulley. They both put out a 150amps but the 3.1 has a cooling duct on it, and its not even listed for the 2.4. So I would say no. Be safe, and get one for the specific year make and model car your needing.

If the rear housings match(can't see in those pics)you should be able to fit your front housing and pulley to the 3.1 alt.
I have done this on my old 2.2 rs, using a 3.1 alternator, still using parts of it on my current car. I have never bought a new starter or alternator, that's why i love j bodys.

either way, between the 2 alternators you have the parts to fix the problem.

The only tools out of the ordinary you will need is an impact wrench and 7/8" socket to get the shaft nut easier, from then on all you need is a decent 1/4" socket and hammer to get them apart.

also an e8 and e6 inverted torx bits, soldering tools, and a lathe to true the armature.
