went out in the morning, started car, was really hard to steer. fluid was low so i refilled. notice theres a leak coming from the hose which connects to the power steering pump into this piece which looks like its a 4 hose piece. i wanna say its the return line? anyway car now makes a grinding sound while driving, gets a lil louder around turns. of course its louder at slower speeds. somehow in the next few days of refilling i forgot to place cap back on. drove it home from work 25 mins. next day noticed it and fluid is a orangy brown n foamy. is the pump now bad? or can i just replace the hose, drain bleed and refill system? also what could the noise be? pullys look good
sorry, its a 97 cav convertable, 2.4l
Nope, pump is probably toasted. But replace the hose, and the pump, and refill with only power steering fluid. After you do that, leave the cap off, and turn it from left to right over and over, from stop to stop, many times, This will bleed the system. Good luck, its a very easy replace. Oh, and the line thats leaking, if it has a nut style end, its the pressure line, the return line just goes into the reservoir and is held in place with a worm clamp. Again, goodluck!
anyone know how to take off the lower end of the pressure line? cant get a wrench in there.
