CEL, reading hot then rpms way off
Thursday, December 09, 2010 3:41 AM
Back again to the forums (was here a few years back (like 5) when I had my '00 z24. Now my G/F has an '04 cavi with the 2.2 eco

anyway to her problem. CEL is coming on intermittently, one moment her rpms are sitting at 6k when idling (it's idling normal) the next the temp gauge is in the red. Plugged in my scanner, and the temp was sitting at 185 after a 1hr drive home when it was reading off the charts, and then when the rpms are reading high its sitting at only 1k.

Funny thing is there are no codes in the system, present or saved (only found a running lean in bank 1 code from way back)

Could the gauge cluster just be messed up....is the tach a cable operated one or computer controlled, same question for the thermostat?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance
