Dead fuel pump?
Thursday, December 09, 2010 9:34 AM
Hey guys, asking for suggestions as I dont have much time to look into it before the weekend, that and it's -20 out with the wind chill. Wifeys oo Sunfire Gt. Just started this the other day when it got cold, wouldnt do it when the car was hot at first. crank crank crank no start, sooner or later it would go. Drove it, said it stalled a few times. So me and Adam went an had a quick gander, fuel pump relay was making a nasty click. Swaped it with thr ac relay, good, was good the next morning, but after her work no dice again. Crank crank crank, for a bit, fired up and got her home. So it's sitting there dead. Anyways should I just order a new pump, or is there wireing I should look into?

try switching your fuel pump relay with the ABS relay ( they are the same at least they are on my 97 ) or replace it. had the same prob relay wouldn't work when it got cold so the pump wouldn't turn on. hope it helps

well considering the price of the ractronix pump with harness vs what an autoparts store might charge, you could go with that instead. unless you plan to go performance with it you really dont need it. that or swap theo one in your car to hers, then the new racetronix with harness on your car

can you hear the pump priming when you cycle the key?

like i said did switch it with the relay. I pulled the back seat and stomped on the top of the pump, and prime she did. Doesn't matter now, already done, pumps in, and knock on wood seems to be ok. Pump was only $149 threw work, new, year warranty, even came with a fuel filter, typical rusty filter line broke, so i had to run a bit of line, but had it all done late fri.
