fuel pump or fuel filter issue?

When the tank is sitting at anything less then the quarter tank line, the car has a damn hard time starting up.
if you go up a hill with it any lower then quarter tank, it just flat out stalls.

is this the fuel filter or pump?

My guess would be the pump. A filter would have consistent issues, not just at a certain level in the tank. The other possibility is wiring, though it sounds more like the pump.

Also, the pumps in these cars are cooled by the fuel in the tank, and consistently running less than 1/4 tank will cause your pump to die prematurely.

I would keep the tank full, and get AAA (or a friend who owns a tow truck - or in my case a race trailer) and drive it till it dies.

or just replace it and don't worry about it.

jack's right though, deff sounds like the pump. don't get yourself stranded this time of year. just replace it. and be good to your car and keep your tank above a 1/4 tank.

Sheesh thanks to the winter weather and crappy hours at work, I'm lucky to keep it near half a tank lol

Guess I'll go ahead and change pumps.. when I have time and money lol

Isn't there a mod with a S-10 pump that increases FP?
