I recently purchased another Cavalier that needed a head gasket job. While working on it, I noticed that the 2-3 wires were crossed. What was weird was I had it running like this. I don't think I crossed anything up putting it back since I tagged everything.

I was wondering if anyone knows when the coil packs fire, does it send juice to BOTH plugs every time (2 & 3 in this case)?

I never drove it with the wires crossed; only had it idling. This is on a '96 2.2L. Thanks.

Yes, the ohv uses a waste spark system, #1 and 4 fire at the same time, as do #2 and 3. It would run fine with 2 and 3 or 1 and 4 switched.
