I overfilled my 2.4L with oil, right now the oil is covering the FULL letters. I think it's about 0.25-0.5 qt over. anyone else overfill their 2.4? Has it given you any problems???

Remember after oil/filter change, the 2.4L will need 4.5 qrts. I know GM says 4 qrts, but I've noticed by doing so, it stays rather low on the hash mark on the dipstick.

even a whole quart over shouldnt give u any problems, high rpms foaming maybe....best thing/messiest thing to do is get a CLEAN bucket or pan, loosen the drain plug until its dripping but the plug is still in and when u guess enough came out, close it up and check it....i said clean bucket incase u take too much out, you can put it right back in.

Right now my car is over full by half a quart becuase it used to burn oil and everytime i checked, it would be half a quart low....guess it stopped burning it and its been half quart over for 3000 miles, i beat on it all the time no problems....oil pressure seems high on cold starts though, maybe that's normal though (75psi), when it warms up, it idles at 20psi and goes up with rpms to about 60-65psi

i wouldnt worry about it, but if you[re worryied, take 5 minutes, drain a little and be done...whatever helps you sleep at night

Mine usually takes 5 quarts. This is after fuilling and then starting the car running for a couple minutes and then letting sit and re-checking the oil.

You know what's weird for me, I put 5 qtz in and run it, wipe the stick then put it back in, and it's bone dry.

You do realize that the biggest issue the ld9 has is oil caviatation right? Over filling the oil just makes it worse.

I personally would rather run .25 qt low than .25 over.

Yeah I would not.

I have found most spun bearings are from low on oil.

.25 to .5 over... is this really worth making a thread about? Everyone is going to biotch about how to do something.

ALWAYS go by what is recommended by the manufacturer.

You should be okay, but don't do it again. If you are really worried... just loosen the oil filter a little and let it come out of there slowly. tighten it back up and wipe up the oil that got on your block.
