Ok, I'm new to this site so hope im doing this right. I got a 97 z24 that ive have trouble getting started every now and then. What happens is i go to start the car and when i put the clutch in and turn the key, the fuel pump comes on, the dash lights up, but when i go to crank it, nothing happens, not a click or anything. When it happens, i can let it sit for about 24 hours and it will crank right up like nothing was ever wrong. i replaced the clutch pedal ignition lock switch and the car did good for about 2 days, then it wouldnt start that seconded night when i got off work. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
try turning the key on and taking a screw driver and jump the solenoid on the starter and see if it cranks. sounds like a bad connection at the battery or the solenoid.
There is a part (donīt remember its name) behind the ignition switch that when on its way out will cause that problem...
well based on recent issue with ours did same thing looked like had power but the batt didnt have enough amps to run the starter. we had a 600+ batter only pushing out 300- amps. It would be fine one day then fail the next then fine. batt took a dump. especially with the recent heat wave we had didnt help the battery. take batt to auto store for testing.
Found it at Rockauto.com they call it Electrical-Switch & Relay : Ignition Starter Do check the starter solenoid first as indicated if it is ok I bet it is this Ignition starter
if every checks out ok don't dismiss the battery. they can test good and be bad. ive had that happen very annoying
