Hey i have an 05 sunfire with power windows and the passenger one was rolled down partially and is stuck down about 2 inches. while pressing the button there is an electric motor sound for just a split second and then nothing until next time the car is turned on, however the window hardly budges. Any idea on what to check to fix it or what could be causing it to not work?
doesnt necessarily have to be fixed but to atleast get it up for now.

sounds like a bad window switch to me. do you have access to an ohmmeter?

I'm 99% sure if the switch was bad you wouldn't get anything from the motor at all... but I could be wrong... Try having a friend pull up on the window when you hit the switch.. could be just stuck there. Or something in the window track might be messed up and has the car thinking that the window is all the way up even though its still open a bit, this would cause the motor to make that short noise you hear and then nothing because it won't let the motor run the window up anymore when it thinks its up all the way. You could try jumping the wires in the switch but i'd wait for last to do that and try pulling it up first..
