Would a bad IAC casue like jerking and hesitation, feeling of a quick misfire while in gear moving? or that has absolutely nothing to do with idle?
I read somewhere you unplug the iac while it's running and the idle should change....mine didnt change at all
How fast are you moving? Open or closed throttle?
It's random, but mostly light throttle and low speeds, 20-30mph, last night i felt a little buck at 50 while on the highway...
WOT at high rpms feels great, the power is all there, just light throttle around 2000-3000 rpms it does this..
When i come to a stop, the idle is just a mess, sometimes it's fine, sometimes it just idles very low like 250-300 rpms and will either die, or if i rev for a few seconds, it clears up.
If it stalls, it fires right up without problems and idles just fine atleast for a little while after first start, sometimes if reving dont fix the idle, ill just shut it off and turn it back on with the key and its fine for a while...that makes me think its a sensor or something that gets reset when i restart the car.
Plugs look good, wires look fine, coils idk how to check, it's a 95 2.2 so theyre hard to get to
JUST CHANGE OUT THE COILS!
TRY IT, quit making threads about the same thing and just go to the scrap yard, grab some coils and try it.
I don't think it's the coils! lol its not exactly a misfire idk how to explain it....but tonight i was driving and it was more like a "no power" feeling, i was merging on the parkway 2000rpms in 4th gear, got maybe 3/4th throttle and it really felt like it wasnt even trying to pull, i wasnt losing speed, just wasnt really gaining any....
Also once off the parkway, the cars idle was all over the place, cruising in neutral it would be like 1500-2000rpms, would stay there for a little after a full stop, then it would drop, sometimes it would be normal idle, sometimes it would drop to like 300 rpms, when i rev it would be like a 2 second wait before it "realized" i touched the gas pedal and when i let off the gas, the rpms drop so fast
maybe TPS? while idling normally, i unplugged the Tps and it idled at a steady 1800ish, would bad Tps cause low idle and stalling?
Check your tps probe the wires should be about. .5 volts at idle. Check your iac just unscrew it and have someone turn the key to on position and see if the the motor kicks in. It's probably one of those two thing's.
the problem is, it only happens randomly when im nowhere near home to check it...so i guess ima just deal with it till it gets worse lol
the thing with check it, is most of the time it idles right so i figure checking it at idle, it would be fine...id have to wait for it to idle rough or something
Sounds more like an iac you can check an see if it's dirty..... Unplugging your iac should make a difference as well
runs ok without load
with load, the idle gets all messed up and the car will basically stall after a while, sometimes revving it a few times will clear it up, sometimes before it clears up, it idles like 2800
it's kind of like a misfire, when i rev it when the idle is bad, you hear ALOT of popping from the exhaust like unburnt fuel, you can also smell the gas
with load and cruising, ill get loss of speed(same throttle position and no up hill), also hesitation when accellerating
All are low to half throttle position, flooring it, even at low rpms seems to clear it up until i get back to low throttle position
when i say load, i mean loading the altinator like heat blowing, lights, fog lights, wipers, radio, rear defogger seems to make it run extra bad
and i have tested the altinator, it's good
i do not know where to start, no check engine lights except the occasional it pops on and the fan also comes on but after a minute or so, they both shut off so i never have a change to check it, it's also obd1 which is hard to find a scanner for
someone help me outttt
Maybe if you werent a complete douche nozzle people would help you.
Clean your throttle body and make sure you get in the iac.

i might as well....i spend more time on supraforums.com
Why do you guys all mess with him? if you don't like him don't comment. Why would you purposely cause problems unless your bored and and your hand is tired from all that internet porn so you jump on here to start @!#$. It's pretty stupid. Most of you guys probably live with your mom's are virgins and think your hot @!#$ with your cavaliers with the glow lights underneath. And because of those facts you guys start @!#$ with people online. It's stupid immature and you guys need to get a life. End of story. 95 ls coupe I got your back. These pussy's run there mouths online I bet they would never say @!#$ in person.
Lol thanks, im done arguing with them..i just need to know what wrong with the car, cant really drive it at night, lights only is fine, but hot nights i need the blower motor on, and raining, the rear defogger kills the car
even though i had the altinator tested(at advance auto, i didnt ask, he just said it was good), i still think its not putting enough amps out...volts are fine
when i put alot of electrical load, it starts to misfire and stall and driving when its loaded, it has like no power and bucks and shakes....the idle is terrible but when i take off the electrical load, it clears up right away(give or take a minute or so)
i may just buy a new alternator and install it and try it, if not ill just return it...takes 10 minutes to change them on the 2.2s...just have no time lately...was hoping this happened to someone else so i can get a legit answer
Hmmm try with the car running to unhook positive batt cable and see what it does. It does sound like a weak alternator. Or maybe corroded wires but that's unlikely. That's an old trick but it has worked for me in the past
Did you try swapping the coils? I had a nearly identical problem and that is what it ended up being. I just ran to the junkyard and picked up a different set and bam, problem fixed. Been running great for a while now!

So when it's misfiring, i unhook the positive, and what's supposed to happen?
and no i didnt try to swap coils, i dont want to put money into anything unless i know it will fix it... the car runs great during the day, only electrical load there is radio..
at night its a different story, put the headlights on and you feel it getting bad, defogger seems to do it the worst along with blower motor on high
Ifvm the car dies it means the alternator is bad usually
your car is a pile of crap and youre an idiot. plain and simple.

The cavalier yes, the supra no. Go do some hardcore sunfire driving, 108mph in 10 minutes...
My mechanic is junking a sunfire because the headgasket is shot, he let me swap Coil Packs and Spark plug Wires(new) free, my spark plugs are good.....Think that covers the whole ignition system....NO change at all...
And i know that car ran perfect besides the burning coolant...we woulda swapped alternators but 1997 2.2s and 1995 2.2s have different alternators, we coulda made it fit, the harness plug into it, the 97 had 3 wires, the 95 has 2, different plug so it wouldnt have worked
What the @!#$ is your peoples problems? You guys run your mouth about someone you don't like that's pretty dumb if you don't like him don't post. But really take the dick outta your mouth and either be a man and have a little curtousy and respect or go be a bitch on some other site. And yes hardcorexsunflower I'm talking to you.
Both of you are the moat annoying people on this site. You ask the same Damn questions over and over again. You do know that there is a search on here. Oh, and that new thing called Google. Or maybe like I said your cars are just junk. It happens.
Yes my Sunfire is slow. So is yours. By the way I don't ever get near 108mph because I'm not a moron. So you and Dakota go racing. I hope you run each other off the road and burn a fiery death. Better yet, get a room together. You deserve each other.
Dude go away, no one wants to hear from you.. every post of mine you're in here talking bad about me and it has nothing to do with the topic i posted about...i said one time that i street race and you're all over my junk ever since then, grow up, people race on the street.....there's nothing hardcore about a sunfire anyway
and thanks dakota
