So tonight i got the chance to get the car back to the track one thing after another first my tilt lever released my first launch so that was a crappy run.. the second run the sterio fell out and lodged between my shifter (its not properly installed because my car got broke into and mounting holes are broken) then the third and fourth run it wouldnt stay in first gear i would launch move just a little and it poped out... so heres the thing when i pulled the motor i had to remove the cables from the transmission and the little clips that hold the cables in the guide or holder which ever you want to call it broke and are not there curently.. after this incident im going strait to the dealer to try to get some..
But anyways question is do you guys think these clips being missing would cause this? i mean the engine and trans will rock during a hard launch and i would see the posibility for the cables to be moving inside the holder from this?
Those clips that hold the cables to the tranny case? yes those are very important, it shouldnt even shift without them in there. The clips that hold the end of the cable to the shifter assembly are not as important but the cables will still come off eventually.

The clips that hold the cables into little metal bracket that bolts to the transmisison with 3x 10mm bolts is what im talking about. Its about 6 inches from the end of the cable's where the acual linkage goes. Its like literly just a bent up pice of wire ill see if i can find a link to them

all they do it hold the cable to the transmisison before the cable goes to the linkage... however im hoping no clips is whats making it pop out of 1st under a hard launch... it wont do it on normal pavement either only at the stip because the pavement there has so much rubber laid on it so its super sticky
If there is play at that connection the car might not be fully into gear.
