I have a 2000 cavalier, and at speeds of about 80mpg and higher the whole car has a shake to it. Any ideas?
These cars do this... but check your control arm bushings and also don't forget to use the search function above.
My bad, what else could i do to improve this?
You've probably lost a wheel weight.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
So... Since the OP didn't feel like filling out, or posting any sort of info about his car. I'll just assume....
It's a base model.
It's a 3spd auto.
It's got 14" steelies
One or more of them is bent
It's got the cheapest tires that China can make.
The driver feels like a badass street racer when it finally makes it over 80mpg.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick

Here's your resolution. Don't go over 80mph. End of story.
Lightly modded J's will trap over 80 no problem, he isn't asking to remove the speed limiter here...

Mine doesn't, it pays to keep your drivetrain in good condition.

Ok first of all i don't need to be a street racer in my daily driver 5spd cavalier, when i have a supercharged 572 big block in my 71 monte carlo, and if am going over 80mpg means i am late the car has gone over 115mpg used gps to track speed, and why not cuz i felt "cool" doing it because i like to push a car to its limits to see what it has and you people on here know more about these cars then me ive had it for 2 months and never owned one, so after that is said, it has aftermarket 14''s that came with the car with mid range tires, ill take the wheels to get balanced at my grandfather shop, any other ideas? Have other projects t o worry bout just don't like knowing that there my be something wrong even if its at high speeds its still a problem that needs to be fixed..... and SHOoff if you want to run your mouth run it into my 1933 mosin nagant ( you wont no what it is just look it up)

You feel badass cause you have an old gun? 7.62x54R correct? my buddy has one, shot it, not too impressed, plus shells are expensive as hell... and threatening people on JBO with your gun isn't the best way to make friends and/or find the help and answers you need.
What happened to this forum?
Nothing, its always been like this. lol

I like how he has gone over 115mph when the speed limiter is set to 108.
You do realize that GPS speed isnt exactly accurate?

This is the worst forum, you all wine and complain, and anytime theres a post some one says search first, just answer the question at hand damn, you have gay comments to make
Like my last post, check your bushings. Pull off your front tires and check for any kind of movement or play. Could be control arm bushings, wheel bearings, inner tie rods, lower ball joints, struts, strut mounts, and almost anything else up front in your suspension. Like Transporter7220 said, get your wheels checked to make sure they are balanced. Car will shake at higher speeds if your missing a wheel weight. Also, the ONLY reason everyone says search is because posts like this one come in all the time and it is always the same questions. All the regular forum guys get tired of answering the same question over and over again. Search first, and if you can't find what you are looking for, then tell people you at least searched and could not find the answer for your specific problem. A LOT of people on here may seem like a-holes, (because we are a-holes most times) but you also have to see it from our side. I am not trying to give you a hard time, just trying to help you out.
This thread makes me LAWLS

i've noticed a pattern. any time anyone here is called out on speeding in their cavalier, they magically have a supercharged turbo'd two of the big ones 800 CI monster block backup car that does 3 seconds flat in the quarter while getting 9001 miles per gallon. didn't believe it then, still don't believe it now.

do some research, then use said research to make your lies more believable. the factory limiter cuts fuel at 108. you did not go 115.

now sir, let me explain something to you about what you just did. you signed on to a PUBLIC web forum. you posted a question, then when you got an answer you didn't like, you made what sounds awfully like a threat to me. whether it was or not, should he want to, SHOoff could contact your local authorities and press charges. the fact that you put your name up makes this a lot easier.
tl;dr: THINK BEFORE YOU POST.
