Alright so I'm having a major issue with my 2000 cavalier z24. When the car is idling it will idle just fine for about 3-5 mins at just under 1000 rpm. then it will suddenly cut out and drop to 0 rpms for like .5 seconds, then skyrocket to 2500 rpms, then back to the idle at just under 1000. then 3-5 mins later do the same thing. But thats not the worst part, sometimes when i go to stop at a red light the car will power down all together not catching itself. so i have to restart the car with the key. It started happening right after i got an oil change, and a day before i got an 02 sensor replaced.
Please help!
sounds like your throttle position sensor
what engine 2.2?
can you post some data stream information? hard to diagnose without it.
fuel trim at idle and 2500rpm, iac counts at idle would help narrow it down.

A 2000 Z24 would have the 2.4 DOHC. And most basic people won't have access to that type of information from the car.

thanks for letting me know what the op has access to. anyone with a 75$ pocket scanner can access data stream. the other posts may be correct but trying to diagnose without evidence is best guess...it also could be a iac...codes and data stream are the best starting point.
So i tried throttle position sensor, cleaned it. no dice. So then i went to Iac, still stalling. I found the culprit.... faulty o2 sensor that can't handle the flow from my header.
