Ello. I just got this today and I have a few questions. It's an 03 coupe and runs seemingly great. Only problem I'm having is that I need to jump start it every time. Granted, I've only started it a few times, I literally just got back from getting it. It has a brand new battery so I can't see that being the problem, but maybe the alternator? I'm also wondering, I have a 2000 Sunfire, is the alternator in the sunfire compatible with this newer model Cavalier?
Also, the passenger side windshield wiper does not move. Can I take the wiper from my sunfire and replace it with that?
Lastly, it makes a banging sound that seems to be coming from the passenger side wheel-well whenever I turn in any direction...
Does the battery go dead every time? It's possible.you have a draw on the battery. Also possible the starter is bad cause it to pull to many amps.
No the 2000 gunfire alt won't work.
Check that the wiper linkage is in fact good or bad, I doubt its the wiper arm.
The wiper arm goes down too far, almost under the hood so I'm pretty sure its that. Will the sunfires wiper work?
Also no, the battery doesn't go dead, when I have it connected to the jumper cables and touch the other end together there is spark, and not just a little bit. After it's off and I try to start it again it will try and turn over but just before it would, it stops and I hear a clicking noise until I turn back the key.
#1 don't do that to your battery. It could send voltage spikes to other components in the vehicle. Smack the @!#$ out of the old school backward ass that showed you that.
I'm betting starter then. Wipes should be the same. But I'm not 100%.

Yessir. Starter probably isn't compatible between my sunfire and cav? Sunfire is an automatic and cav is a standard
not compatible...
you should be able to remove your starter and get it test.
Now that I think about it, it doesn't make sense to me that it starts with jumper cables but it doesn't without. If the starter was bad, wouldn't it just not start at all?
the starter can still work and be bad. it is just drawing to much amperage and draining the battery. to rule out an alternator maybe go to your local parts store they usually test alternators for free
I'll be checking the alternator on Monday but I just wanted to clarify in saying that I'm leaning more towards the battery not holding a charge or the alternator being bad as opposed to the starter.
It's just about a brand new battery however whenever I turn the car off, even if I've been driving for an hour, the car won't start, I get a clicking noise, and then after a few tries of trying to start it, eventually all electronics in the car stop working. No radio, no dome light, no dash lights, nothing.
starter can do that too...
