I know the front tire howling is the wheel bearing but this time I have a knocking sound coming from the front tire area. Just once in awhile, haven't pinpointed it down yet because it doesn't do it all the time, thought maybe the bolts came loose from where I changed the wheel bearing but it isn't coming from that side. Just wondered if there was a common problem for that sound like the howling means wheel bearing, could the knocking be the tie rod ? Can't get it to make the noise unless I'm driving, tried pushing up and down on the hood and all that, Looks like I'll have to jack it up and see if I can find something loose unless someone has an idea on what it may be. I hope it is something cheap this time.
It sounds like it is the strut but I haven't gotten underneath it to look yet, is this a common problem on a 2004 cavalier ?
I have had a wheels bearing making a thumping sound.
When you turn the wheel left or right does it go away or get better?

it is a single knock? when do you have to do to make it happen; over bumps, when turning??
