I think it has to do with that ugly yellow band you have on

Take off the 3 bolts under the steering column cover and you might be able to see if there's something wrong with the bolts holding it to the dash brace or it might have something to do with the tilt function.

There is a post on it here in the interior forum I believe. It has something to do with a roll pin that gets loose or breaks.

Mine has been doing it for a while but its not near as bad as yours.

Did you ever fix this? I'm having an almost similar issue. I can still tilt the wheel and everything, but I also have this side to side play that you have.

Taking the same lead of the original poster, I took a video of the side to side play. It looks like it's fairly isolated to the very close part just behind the steering wheel. The column itself doesn't move at all. There seem to be two circular screws or dowels. They look secure but i'm not sure. Does anyone have experience with this?
