Bought an 04 cavy today that was wrecked with 59k on it for a motor swap in my 03 cavy. It was hit in right front. Guy I bought it from hasn't started it since 1st of december. Car has new battery in it for testing. Won't turn over at all. I can hear the starter relay clicking but it won't turn over. I can push start it and it fires right up but when I shut it off it's back to not turning over again. Anyone else ever run into this? It's not a big deal. I'm swapping motor anyways. Just curious as to what could cause it to all of the sudden not wanting to start.
Umm if you can roll start(assuming it is a manual) it is plain as day engine needs a new starter! Sounds like the solenoid is sticking,or has dead spots just buy a whole new starter NOT just the solenoid(waste of time bc of removal).Next time it just clicks tap the starter with a hammer OR use a long screw driver placed on top and tap lightly then try starting it.You need a starter.Too easy
could also be relay, this happened to me a couple weeks ago, it clicked but wasn't making good contact, i jiggled it and starts no problem. for safe measures i swapped the relay with another from old harness, note i did the same swap you are about to do
