Haven't been on in a while but I gotta huge problem my 97 cavalier died while driving it did this at about 12 at night had to push home! So it will turn over but doesn't sound like a normal turn over sounds like something is missing! In the morning I will check too see that it's getting fuel! Also I am going to check the battery but I do not think it's any of those I think it's a little more complicated so please even if it's just repeating the whole check fuel/battery thing I need everyones advice on what this could be this my only car at the moment and I have to get it running thanks to all!!

fuel pump/ fuel delivery system. you need to be more specific about the actual problem. obviously it wouldnt turn over but did anything happen when you turned the key and tried to start it. And was it lurching at all while you were driving it(if it was i would for sure say fuel pump)

I am looking for struts for my newly aquired Eibach pro-kit performance coils, If anybody has some?

Check battery, spark, and fuel. If it is none of that... I would do a compression test and also check timing. All pretty basic. I would also see if any codes are coming up as well.

Do you hear the fuel pump for 2 seconds if you turn the key without turning it all the way?
If you don't It could just be the fuel relay.

sorry I just now noticed you said it was your timing belt

As far as I know, the 2.2 OHV is Non intereference. I hear people all the time with broken chains, and they throw on another and keep going. If you did have intereference, it would most likely turn over really hard. Secondly, you can try to look through the spark plug holes on the head to see if anything is in there.

Non interference. Just put a new chain, and I would do new tensioner too, and be on your way.

Pull the spark plugs, take a flashlight and watch the number 1 cylinder, spin the motor over by the crank or flywheel till number 1 is at the top before it goes back down, it is then either on TDC compression or TDC exhaust stroke. not sure how to tell which stroke it is with your car though. There should also be timing marks somewhere but i haven't ever messed with a 2.2 like that.. so idk

Pull the plug out of cylinder 1, put a metal hanger that you straightened out through the hole, turn the crank till it peaks at the top.
