pcv valve location

I tried to replace the pcv valve. I thought it was the little metal tube between the air hose and the valve cover, but that was nothing but a hollow metal tube.
Now I think it's supposed to be at this location in the picture, where a small hose connects the valve cover and intake unit, but the hose feels like it has a metal hose inside of it, and no pcv valve at all.

The car is a 97 cavalier (2.2liter) and advance auto does have a valve, but not for '98. For '98 they said none required.

Is this what a '97 should look like?

if you look towards the left of the engine there is a black hose going into the engine with a big plastic nut....just twist the black nut and then pull the hose out and you should see the PCV valve hanging from the end. Just pull it off and replace....

Thank you, I was afraid something would fall in or break if I removed the plastic ring nut, and didn't seem like a valve was in there at all.

There it is!

1997 2.2 liter PCV VALVE

I replaced the pcv valve and also the line, with a new piece of 3/8"fuel line.
