i know its been asked but im still not sure 100%......... i have a 99 sunfire 2200 auto and am thinking about buying a 98 sunfire 2200 5speed that needs a timing belt......
could i just swap my auto motor into the manual car straight bolt on? or would i have to modify anything?
im planning on keeping one of the motors out to build on, i have read pretty much all of the ohv build threads so gotta pretty good idea wat to do in that reguards but if you wanna offer up some advice it would be appreciated. thanks!!
I think that you have to add a trans mount to run the manual, also you will have to add the clutch pedal, and the resivoir, just off the top of my head.... I am sure there is more
the car im swapping the motor into has the five speed, the one im taking the motor from has an auto...... my question is will the motor from an auot mount stright to a five speed sorry for the confusion but thanks for the info man
Im doing a 5 speed conversion, so If I give you backwards instructions, it should help. (5speed to auto)
You will need:
-an auto mount welded in place
-both original auto axles
-remove manual mounts
-remove clutch pedal
-remove slave cylinder
-remove clutch fluid resevoir
-splice in park neutral safety switch
-splice in reverse lights
-auto shifter assembly and cables
-the ecu should be fine if its not the 4 speed, the 3 speed is hydraulically controlled, whereas the 4 speed is computer controlled
I have a whole bunch of auto stuff except the actual transmission, I blew that up.
Just incase you need anything.
