Hi All,

Im going to be replaceing the headgasket and a fe other gaskets and figured i hsould as what else i should replace while im in there? and if anything shuld be replaced in the process, i dont think there is anythign "wrong" with the car, but is there a list of parts that would be good to replace on a car that has 170,000 miles on it?

Bump, I am pulling the motor out of my Sunfire to rebuild so it can go into my Cavalier. It has always used a bit of coolant, which I believe is from the water neck on the side of the block, but I was just wondering what else I should change while I have it out. I was thinking about doing a complete tear down and rebuild, but is there anything else that I should do? Timing chain, bearings, gaskets, ect?

A generic answer would be any wear parts. Things I would replace are: timing set(chain, guides, tensioner), water pump, gaskets, and I would consider some valve train comments like lifters. Depends on your goals and what you've done to the motor.
