Mkay so, after finding out where the purge solenoid gets mounted and wired in i fixed said issues, unplugged battery cleared code <p0440>, also filled tank to about half as i read the evap test is done between 15-85 pct fuel. Well at first all seemed ok but i was noticing a split second of hesitation when i stepped on the gas but top end acceleration was improved. As is always the way it seems Murphy steps in and lays down the law ...the light popped back on..no more hesitation but again my 80-108 times is minutes it seems .Anyone have a guess where i might go next ,filler pipe and cap seem ok but will inspect closer today
My brothers 92 cavvy did this with a bad MAP sensor. Unplug it and see if it goes away. Not sure if this will work with the newer cars, but his idle cleared right up when the CEL light came on.
You are going 100 or stock suspension why? No way this car does 108 in the 1/4. No reason to measure this.
Thanks Ryan ill try looking anywhere i can before i go out and pay someone 50$+ an hour just to diagnose..let alone how much they will want to fix it.
.........................................where did i ever even mention 1/4 mile times?...if thats what you were ASSuming thevilliagemon...well i'll leave it at that lol...to be more clear i suppose for the ASSumers my 80-108 reference was more an indicator of the acceleration loss after...to make ^^ happy 0-64 takes no time,64-65 <only on the highway mind you!!>takes forever if im WOT if i back of a lil it picks up a bit. This is how its been with my purge solenoid unplugged and hanging by the charcoal canister hose and the CEL on the past 2 years or so, after hooking the purge back up and in place then clearing the code, idle and acceleration were much smoother but after a few miles i started to notice a split second hesitation when i stepped on the gas but otherwise seemed like all was good...then the light came back on and im back where i was
How did you diag the purge soleniod?
^^ see my post * looking for someone with a lift and a cam*
Take it to someone who does emissions repair. Have the car smoke tested. Let them fix it.

Live with the light and your issue forever.
