new motor, wont start

hey guys im new here, i normally work on camaros and firebirds but i need help with my sisters 96 cavalier 2.2L. we swapped in a new motor and i had it running, but there was a fuel and oil leak, fixed both leaks and now the car doesnt run, it has fuel and spark but i dont believe the injectors are staying on because it will start for 2 seconds and shut off. so i think it has to do with VATS or PASS KEY, I had to bypass VATS on my camaro but i think its different with cavaliers. the car doesnt have wires coming out of the ignition and on the top of the guage cluster there is a plug on the right side that has a white/black/yellow wires coming out and they go into a microchip thing with a blue resistor measured 9.51k according to the color bands but with a ohmeter it was 9.56k ohms. so it looks like someone already tried to bypass it. can anyone of you help me out? this car has been a nightmare. thank you in advance!

Is the theft light blinking when it shuts off? If it is, you probably just need to do the Passlock Relearn. Let it die and don't touch anything until the light stays on constantly, usually takes ten minutes. Crank it and it should be fine after that.

It wouldn't hurt to do the passlock relearn turn the key to the on position and let it on till that light in the dash goes out then turn key off and back to the on position and wait till it goes out turn key off and start up and see if it dies again....
