My head gasket blew after my cav overheated the other day, so i decided to tear into it myself. I read my chilton's manual and searched through the site for info and was able to find what i needed to replace it. After replacing the gasket and starting the rebuild i have run into one problem. For some reason, two of the pushrods are seemingly too long, so the rockers dont actually seat properly for me to screw them in. I have all the others seated properly without issue and everything is back in the exact place it was removed from. Please help so i can get my baby running again. (2000 2200 base model 3 speed)
Maybe a stupid comment, but you have turned the crank by hand to move the cam right (pull the plugs so it turns easy)? It's probably just right at the top of the cam lobe?

I have not...that initally crossed my mind as it looks like they are exactly at the top of the cam lobe, but im not experienced with internals..bolt ons, thats me all day, lol....I truly appreciate the help and quick response
Oh and dont forget to put #1 piston at top dead centre.
I am looking for struts for my newly aquired Eibach pro-kit performance coils, If anybody has some?
Yeah, if the valves are open, your pushrods will be up.
As long as you have stock valve train, just line them all up, and torque them down.
Like stated above, remove the spark plugs after installing the valve train, and it should all turn over by hand with a wrench on the crank pulley.
It worked perfectly..a few hours and numerous breaks later, i am finally finished.,.i triple checked all nuts, bolts, and hoses, added coolant and finished off with an oil change. Started right up and the idle smoothed out within 5 seconds...I really appreciate all the help from everyone and love my "J" even more thanks to this forum
