Ok so I was working in my engine bay today and accidentally snapped this grey/black tiny plastic hose. I'm worried the hose is important and is going to start causing me problems if I leave it snapped ( I know "no @!#$") lol. I can feel it sucking air to the engine but I need to know exactly what it does and what it effects. Whats going to happen if I leave it broke, how I could I fix it (autozone, quick fix, order special hose online) any help would be greatly appreciated. Its snapped right at the big black part on the black hose side side. I have a 2001 z24 2.4 twin cam no EGR. Its the only grey/black hose in the pic, it comes out of a black grommet with wires in it, and then runs down by the firewall, it doesn't go into any reservoir like it looks like it is. PLEASE HELP!
here's a link to what I'm talking about let me know if this works, its my first post.

Not hundred percent on this but might be vacuum line that controls the vacuum for your dash function like switching from defrost to floor, etc and can get same size hose and push over both ends, bam done fixed already and most parts stores will just cut you chunk off big roll in back.

I'm hoping its something as simple as that, and that's a great idea for the fix except for the fact the black line is connected to a piece that's more than double its size. I have no clue why its set up like that, any ideas? Should I break it off and just go straight through from black to grey or does this huge thing serve another purpose?
Yea pretty sure its for heater vacuum and pretty sure its a check valve so holds vacuum in dash after car is off so I would keep it, is it like a rubber deal though and your line just snapped in it? If it is try to thread a screw into broken piece and get the little plastic piece out and just shove the grey one back in it if can, had to do this couple times and if cant go to junkyard and get that piece but cut ends long so can slip hose over it on both ends to make your own connector like I already mentioned, hope this helps you.

Just realized you had pic of it but yea thats for sure for your heater vacuum so nice to have or will just go into default and only stay on defrost. And if its the black line broke its pushed into a vacuum connector and can screw soomething small and pull out broken chunk and just shove black hose right back in there as easy as that.

I'm still stumped as to what exactly this is for because my heat still switched last night after I broke it (from window, to feet, to dash). It doesn't really matter now because your screw idea worked like a charm. thank you SOO much!
Glad I could help you out.
