My 2004 ecotec has 139,500 miles (225,000 km) is has no issues so far ,still going strong!I always give her the best though ,valvoline synthetic oïl and runs on 91 octane...ever since I purchased her used at 26,040 miles (42,000 km)
BLACKMANTIS
Forgot to mention that my eco was the 2.2 or L61
BLACKMANTIS
120k miles. Replaced all the timing components at 100k. Found out when I took it out I did indeed have the old style tensioner.
Also run synthetic. Mobil 1.
I don't have time right now to go over octane ratings and why 91 is a waste of money for a stock motor, so do a search on here for it. I'd highly advise you to stop wasting cash on 91 (unless your boosted, in which case ignore me)

Why octane rating doesnt mean better fuel....cliffs notes.
Octane rating is simply put the ability of a fuel to resist combustion.
So higher the octane rating the harder it is to burn. It does NOT give you better gas mileage or more power.
In theory it will give you less power than regular 87 if your car is not tuned for it.
If your boosted though it helps to run higher octane because of the added heat from it all.
If your car is stock or not tuned for higher octane and asks for 87...use 87 and save the cash!
11,000. Replacement motor I bought from Darkstars with about 5,000 on it. Installed and driven about 1,500 miles superior to accident. Have about 4,000 on it since dropping it into the new car.

Thanks man. I was in a rush to get out. But for some reason, whenever I see a post about someone saying they use 91 or something I just get this itch that I can't scratch until I tell them that it's a waste of money. It's a disease, I admit it.
The DD has like 153ishK miles, haven't looked at the odo in a while, L61. The toy has a little over 135k on the body, 41k on the motor (LSJ swap).
180000 miles - original timing set and head gasket car itself has 280000 miles lol
177K, No problems. (2002) bought at 71K
150K Nothing at all (2004) Bought at 31K
2003 ecotec has 206000 and runs great
My 2004 had 127k when I bought it, totalled it at 132k, within that range all that it needed was a battery, and wheel bearing.
My current 2003 had 74k when I bought it, gave it a Wix fuel/air filters, Amsoil 5w30OE performance oil, currently 76,820mi and running dandy.
'03 LS Sport 5spd, Amsoil fluids, Vibrant cat-back, 5% 3M color stable tint, Z24 trunk lid
2003 cavalier L61 185k miles. bought brand new with 10 miles. only changed oil and the timing set.
113,500 mobil 1 5w30 since day one. Burns oil like a bitch under full throttle. Rings are pretty much done.
Almost 90k on the 03
Still on the lower end miles on the 04....
Both have used different synthetics over their lives....currently both have a taste for Quaker State's Syn now........

Does you car smoke a lot from burning oil under hard acceleration? I have around 126K and it runs good but loses a little oil as well. Can't figure this issue out.
Yes its the piston rings causing my oil consumption.
