2002 cavalier with the 2.2L.
When I bought the car the a/c was working. Over a week or so after I got it, it felt like it had ran outta Freon. So I tried putting Freon with stop leak in it thinking there may be a small leak somewhere. But the compressor would not come on.
So we straight wired the compressor to get it to kick on. It worked, but it wouldnt suck more than maybe 1/2 a can. Also compressor wouldnt stay on unless we held that straight wire on it. Shouldnt it start working after it gets a little freon in the system??
Next I replaced the pressure switch up there by the radiator. Still nothing.
Also checked all my fuses, and relay must be good. Cuz I switched the a/c relay to fuel pump spot and cranked it up and let it run for ten minutes or so.
Yall have any ideas or advise? Thanks in advance!
Take it to a a/c mechanic.
The compressor will not work without adequate pressure in both sides of the system. Usually its the high side thats too low.
The fill bottles you get from parts stores are crap and the proper equipment should be used.
