My 2.2 ecotech 5spd. It had started getting harder to crank, then as I was letting out on the clutch it was hesitating like its fuel was cutting out! Went to moms got a shower came out to leave now it is turning over but not firing the fuel pump is kicking on and with the hood up cranking it pumping the fuel u can smell fuel! Still no fire!!
If you're getting fuel, check your spark.
Or check the EVAP purge solenoid.
Take off the solenoid and try to blow through it. If you can it's bad. Of you can't it's likely ok. But that can be the root of not firing sometimes. It's a fairly inexpensive part. Always a good start for something like that
Does a 2005 Chevy Classic also have an evap purge solenoid? If so where is located?
Check for spark by grounding the plug against the valve cover, without touching it while cranking, or a spark tester. If you have fuel check fuel pressure, key on engine off should read 41-47 psi, engine idling should be 31-44 psi.
