on a 2.4, the other 3 are good, under 10,000, can i replace it with a old one from a older 2.4 with higher k's??? the bearing and rings will be new
i wouldn't risk it...its like saying i am gonna have 2 new valves and lifters but the others are gonna be old and moe likley to fail
but everything will be new on it, new bearings and rings on all 4 pistons, the engine will be rebuilt
The car I had had a piston slap at 30,000km. (Too much piston to cylinder clearance from the production line)
Dealer replaced the 1 piston (no over sized) without pulling the engine.
Make sure the piston to cylinder clearance is to spec and re- hone and above all CLEAN out all your stone dust thoroughly.
PS I am now rebuilding at 360,000 KM! so don't let someone tell you is does not work!!
Note this was a 2.2 , but your engine tolerances are similar
