last night my friend and I got stock at a light next to each other, so obviously when it turned green, we went....and once i got home, he got online and told me my car smells like hot sick @$$ and it smelled like something rotten. He said it was so bad that he had to roll down his window and let the smell out of his car.
i want to know if there is something wrong with my car? obviously this isn't normal. i've had my exhaust for 2 yrs, and my intake for 3. so nothing in the engine is new so no kind of sealant to keep n e thing from corroding in storage is burning off. if anyone has had this same problem, or knows whats wrong with it, please let me know. my car is a 2002 and shouldn't smell like that.
p.s. it has smelled like sulfer or rotten eggs or whatever a little b4, but its still doing it, so i have to figure out whats wrong with it.
Is there any dead animals inside ur engine compartment?
Your cat's bad. or clogged either way you need a new one.Im talking about your exhaust not an actual animal. ^ ^ ^ ^
lol. alright, thanks. i had a feeling it might be...but man that thing died fast. lol. all i have is an intake and a muffler. oh well...maybe i'll fork out the money for a hi-flo now. lol.
the weird thing is that 2 months ago i passed e-check and it had smelled like rotten eggs b4 then.....is there anything else it could be?
thanks for all the help and i'll check out gettin a new cat
definately sounds like your cat, my work truck smelled like rotten eggs, and we found out that the cat, was completely shot
yup rotten egg smell is a dead sure sign of a bad cat.

no i had the same promblem once it went away it was cause a lil water went inside the engine compartment and the check engine light came on and the exhaust smelled like rotten eggs
Could be the gas you bought. I know I get more "rotten egg" smell using gas bought in CO, compared to WY.

my check engine light was on a few times last week, and i didn't kno why..although i think it was something to do w/ my drl's..but that doesn't make sense that the check engine light would be on...so i dunno...but this also isn't the first time its smelled like that
now i thought i read somewhere that hi- flo cats wont let you pass e-check...but then y even have a cat if it wont let u pass emition tests?
if they do work fine and i will pass e-check (which i passed w/ the bad cat), what is the best one to go with and where it the best place to get it? (price, customer service, etc.)
thanks everyone
high flow cats suck for emissions, and they dont last long.
That rotten egg smell is sulfur, either your cat is shot or the gas you're using has a high amount of sulfur in it.
First change gas stations and buy good gas (or just different gas, same octane) and then look at a new cat.

oh really? do hi flo cats even increase hp by much? i dont want to have to replace it every couple years if it doesn't even give me n e gains in the first place
I think that changing to a hi flow cat is worthwhile especially if you are already having to replace the cat. I have had my magnaflow hi flow cat on my car now for about three years... its been great so far. No complaints.

some are good some are not.
Emission wise, they arent as "good"... I dunno... hp wise, im not sure how much you'd get out of a cavalier or sunfire.
