A/C service leads to overheating, QUESTIONS
Sunday, April 03, 2005 11:46 AM
I took my car in to get the evaporater core and dryer replaced. It took the shop longer than expected to finish the project so someone else had to pick up my car while i was gone on spring break.

Upon driving it home, they informed me the check gauges light and temp light were on, then off. Then the temperature gauge shot up then went back down. Then a loud pop was heard and smoke everywhere. The expansion tank for coolant exploded, the car was towed back to the shop. Of course they somehow got air in the line, which i suspected as soon as i was told what happened.

well ... i get home from break and get in my car and to my dismay ....
It sounds like there is a hole in my floor, i can hear the engine VERY loud
The dashboard isnt even together right, there are huge gaps in it
If feels like I am towing a boat, my engine is making strange noises, my
belts/pulleys are VERY LOUD

I have no idea what the hell happened, but i am going to the shop first thing monday .... i have a feeling whatever was done to my engine cannot be fixed. Sadly, I dont think i am going to have a cavalier anymore.

I am sure someone out there has overheated their j-body ...
What issues have you run into?
What parts needed to be replaced (water pump, gaskets, ???)
Did you ever get your car back to "normal"

Thanks for the help/input
