I am trying to replace some broken studs and I can't seem to get the hub to slide out. I thought maybe if I loosen the axle nut it might give some play, but I can't find sockets deep enough anywhere.
I was thinking about cutting some of the axle stub off, so my socket would reach the nut, but I don't know if this is a good idea or not.
For now I think I am gonna try liberating the ball joint and see if that'll help.
Any ideas would be great, thanks.
Well if anyone else ever has this problem, here is what worked for me.
I drove to the hardware store and bought myself a nice new air hammer.
Best 20 bucks I've ever spent. I need it for something else next week anyway.
I am 65% sure that it won't harm the bearings, but I will post in a few weeks in case anyone wants to know.

just came back to leave feedback... reading my post, I apparently i forgot to post one message.
I cut some of the axle off and it worked... but there still wasn't enough play with the axle loose?? ...which is what I used the air hammer for. I used the flat bit to wiggle in and push out the bearing at the outer most points (where the bolt holes are).
It is actually my sisters car, and she drives like a maniac... it has been about a month and the bearing/axle are both just fine
