i brought my 96 2.4L block to a engine rebuilder, and asked if he can tap the 99 2.4L knock sensor on the block. but the 99 knock sensor is a SMALLER thread than the 96, he also said that hes not sure how to do it, but he will try something. he is thinking of cutting the bolt off the 96 sensor and drilling a hole in the middle of it and threading the 99 sensor into it. Would that work???? i know its been done cause i've heard people discuss it, but im not sure how its done. im going to the re-builder tomorrow (May 19th ) if anyone can tell me how its done PROPERLY i would really appreciate it, thanks
P.S. i've searched the entire site and found a lot of people asking the same question as me, but never got a answer.
I heard that it can be mounted at a different location, in a predrilled hole near the started, is that true?
Can you just plug the factory hole, and drill a new one close to it...?

i'm not sure, i'm afraid of drilling in other places, i might hit a water canal, or worse.
Can anyone confirm?
this would be a good thing to know since I have a 98 block that I am rebuilding to use in my 99.
