Has anyone here tried installing a reman/new motor rather than the entire motor/regulator assembly? The dealership said that they didn't sell just the motors, didn't know if there was a reason other than more markup for them.
I checked carparts.com and they have a Cardone reman motor w/ gear for 62.99, looking at 180 for new motor w/ regulatror from GM. You see why I ask.
Autozone sells the motors for about 45-50 bucks... You can order from them online.
Ive replaced about 6-7 window motors before- Just the motors... The only difference is- you gotta pop out the tiny rivets holding the motor to the rest of the assembly, and replace them w/ the tiny nuts & bolts they give you...
The only hard part about the job is drilling out the rivets that hold it to the door- but even thats pretty easy once you get a method..
You'll have to come back through w/ bolts to replace them- unless you have access to a large rivet gun.
There is a few writeups describing in more detail how to do it- search a little.

I know *slaps hand* I probably would of found something with that lovely little button at the top of the forum listing. Thanks though.
are you sure its the motor and not just the window button? i thought my motor was burned up before and i decided to visit pick-a-part and "borrow" a motor. while i was there i grabbed a button assembly too. i put in the button assembly first and it worked. turned out that the motor was fine.
might want to check that before you go and spend 60 bucks. also, if you have a pick-a-part/junkyard somewhere around, you can normally find parts to anything for cheaper than a dealership or parts store.
GO PATS!!!
Or....
Just remove your door panel and use a test probe to check for voltage on either of the 2 wires running to the motor when you press the button.

OReilly Auto online shows that my store in town actually has at least one in stock, 42.99 with 4.00 core. I have got me some work to do tonight.
