Here's the deal i have a 96 sunfire 2.2, sometimes when its been sitting for a while it will start no problem but once u drive it to normal temp and turn it off thats it it wont start for about 20 min, after that your on your way other times it wil never start unless u sit there and keep cranking untill the starter is ready to quit also when you come to a red light it tries to stall but if u keep your foot into it it will stay running. We have tried a fuel pump because they were sure that was the problem but no go same prob after four pumps so today they are trying a new key lock cylinder to see if the theft lock is screwed up if that don't work then i dont know what were going to do its been a week today.Any help or sugestions would be great because i am lost on this one.
Hard to diagnose this type of problem.
maybe a wasted regulator.....just throwing it out as a suggestion
why do you think its the theftlock? is the light on? if so it could explain it, you may be setting it off, takes 600 seconds *10 mins* to reset
yes the light is on as soon as it goes out the car will start but it tries to stall when it gets up to temp.
I'd say it's your coolant temp or IAT sensor
