the filter that came with my AEM short ram intake needs cleaning. is it safe to just clean it with water or does it need a special cleaning solution like the K&N. It looks to be similar in design to the K&N but i figured I'd ask before iwent out and bought the cleaner.

yup, use the k&N filter cleaner for it. you need to spray the cleaner on it, let it sit for 10 min, then rinse it with tap water. let the filter air dry then spray a layer of oil on the filter.
