I need to replace the bulb for my 01 cavy and I cannot figure out how to remove the head light assembly. I got the manual from Autozone and it says to remove the upper bolts and the assembly should pop out. I done tried that but it seems like it is still fastened some where and won't come out. If any one can help me out, I would grealty appreciate it.
I ran into the same situation.
There is a clip type fastener that holds the two assemblies together; the headlight and the running light/turn signal light.
Pull the whole assembly out a little and look straight down where the two attach. You should see a plastic clip on the headlight that is snapped into the turn signal light. Take a screwdriver and gently lift the clip and the two will come apart.
I guess Haynes missed this important item.

So I had to replace my driver side bulb as the low beam burnt out. Well the whole assembly is a lift wiggle pull out thing. The little clip you mention does hold the 2 together, but its the turn signal that snaps onto the headlight. So even by undoing this clip, you still have to pull the 2 out before they will come apart.. In my case, my Cavy has had some sort of minor front in hit (enough to move the setting position of the bumper) So I found that by removing the first 2 fender bolts & prying my fender away, gave me the room to lift, wiggle & pull the head lights out. Now after the rain, I get to do it again because my passenger blinker went out in the process of replacing the head lamp -.-
You should not have to remove the whole headlight assembly to replace the headlight bulb. There is enough room to do it while it is in the car.
