Car shutting off, sensor bad???

ok so it looks like nobody has seen my other post about a new motor, please check it out after reading this the title is "motor swap......." but anyways i have run into problems yet again.

i have a 98 2200, last night my check engine light came on so i looked at it this evening befor i hit the road and found that the rubber coupler that joins the plastic tube from the fuel injector into the delco sensor on the top of the motor was broken. so i ran to a budy of mine's house and grabbed a rubber coupler off his old bronco (i know ford parts right??? i'm very ashamed) anyways i cleared the computer by disconnecting the battery started it up and the light was still on, i waited a minute and the motor kept hessitating and sputtering for about 5 minutes till finally it cut off....... now everytime i would move the plastic tube the motor would hessitate more, i dont see any visible cracks or anything on it but it's also 2 am right now. this really sux because i need to get back to NC and i'm in VA right now so i need to figure this out quick... btw i have about $18 in my pocket and 1/4 tank of fuel..... i'm in a very tight bind.

anyways all ideas comments are welcome, and please check out my post about the motor swap, it may be coming sooner than i was planning.
