2000+ LD9 questions
Sunday, September 11, 2005 2:39 PM
Ok im looking into doing some extensive engine mods to my car and am debating buying a 2000+ engine with the wiring harness and ECM. I will be building up the engine off the car then swaping it in hopefully that wont take to much to do. What is the main difference between the newer style and the older style like the 96 thats in my car right now? Also any sites with parts for the LD9 would be apreciated, having trouble finding some parts.
Thanks

read this for info, links, tips all that good stuff.

and i think the difference in your engine and the 2000 + is the 2000 + models dont have an EGR valve and there is something but i forget what it is

I would not go soo much by that guide. To me it is not that great. Some old info in there. Do lots of research. Post ask questions that is what this forum is here for. The 2 main difference in a 2000+ 2.4 and yours is they do not have EGR valves, and the knock sensor is different, also the injectors are different. Truly the only one of those that is a issue is the knock sensor. That it's self is not really a issue. The 2000+ have a 2 wire knock sensor which threads in a smaller hole, thans those on a pre 2000 2.4. You have to find the thread size for your (pre 2000 2.4), and drill the who out on the (2000+) 2.4, and thread the hole so the (pre 2000) knock sensor will screw in. You use your injector, and EGR that is in your car currently.
You can get away from the drilling and tapping, and use the new injectors, but you have to swap engine bay harness, and ECU. The easy and price wise is the first option.
