dual borola catback vs rksport catback
Sunday, January 22, 2006 2:36 PM
I've had my 98 sunfire gt since 2004 and have been slowly modding it since mid/late 2005 so for I've added short ram intake and front/rear vibrant braces. I think the next step is a cat back and I'm looking for a something with a nice throaty sound if possible. Does anyone have an opinion about the quality difference between the borola cat back and the one featured on rksport? They are both dual exhaust and both stainless but there is a $400.00 price difference. I could but both the header and catback from rksport for the price of the borola catback.

Anyone have any thoughts on this one? All comments are appreciated.

Borla is discontinued i think. I like tha rk exhaust, I have it but it needs resonator.

Borla is discontined (correct Fire Fighter )

The RK Sport cat-back needs a resonator, otherwise it won't sound like that.

I'd suggest a real magnaflow cat-back setup.

Coolieyo...thanks for the input! I'll have to read some more about what goes into putting a cat back on my sunfire. Sounds like putting a header, highflow cat, and cat back exhaust is probably the best way to go. I may need to think about some additional motor mounts and making sure that the system is allowed to flex?

Am I going to be able to do this without cutting any pipes or modification? Can I just bolt this stuff on and use the oem hangers and such?

Thanks again

Pre-made cat-backs are usually just straight bolt on and minimal cutting but since you're upgrading the whole exhaust system, there will be some more cutting and modifying than normal. Make sure you have a professional install this if you don't have the tools or knowledge to do so.

yea, thanks for the sense talk. I think that I'll do just the catback first for cost reasons and I am leaning towards the magnaflow cause I've read other positive reviews about that brand. I'm going to get my car up on jack stands and look at what's under there and make sure that I am confident that I know all the steps to taking off the old exhaust and putting a new one on. I went to maganflow's site and looked at the pdf install; it looked pretty simple. Only one cut to remove the old one and then the rest is unbolted, I think but I'll get under there before I order anything. Otherwise if there is welding or other problems that can't handle I'll start looking aroung for a shop to do the install. Thanks again njhk!
