Ok well I'm probably gonna be bored this summer and I want to port out my head and intake manifold, Think I'll gain any power? 97 sunfire 2.2 motor. If im not mistaken I thought I read there was an intake manifold I could swap that was bigger don't remember what it was off of though. If thats true are there any heads that are bigger that can swap? Thanks in advance for any help.
There isn't really much aftermarket options for the 95-97 OHV motors. Yes, you'll get a little gain from a port job on the cylinder head but you'll gain even more upgrading the rest of your valvetrain.
As far as the manifold, I think that is your only decent option. I don't know what manifold you're talking about swapping from though.

Patriot head. Intake manifold? Port it.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
The aftermarket IM I know of is the Hogan Racing one.
I though the intake was off a 1st gen perhaps do they bolt up to my engine? How bout milling my head? how much does that affect reliablity? Any valvetrain parts off an LS1 motor work on the 2.2? I really dont want to put much money into this car because most of my money goes into my camaro but the sunfire is a dog for my driving style. 5 speed would help me out but my trans only has like 50k miles on it so its not worth it yet to rip it out.

On the OHV, you can if you wanted to but just not much material. That would slightly increase your compression. The downside is that milling the head could mess with your pushrods and put more stress on them. Mill too much and you could increase valve lift to a point where the pistons meet the valves. So in reality, it's not the most reliable way to make power.
You can't use any LS1 parts on your motor...2 different motors.
I know you say that you don't want to spend too much money on this vehicle but it's not that expensive to upgrade your valvetrain system because you have less parts to upgrade.
Also, if you knew the right places, you could always rebuild your transmission for the same amount of doing a transmission swap.

LS1 parts on a cavalier engine.. hehe. never gonna happen. we're not talking about swapping 4 cylinder honda engine parts here.
Performance Intake manifolds ( and throttle bodies ) are incredibly expensive for the little performance you do get, unless you're working on a turbo setup or a really major engine. You may gain a horsepower, but the old non-ecotec 2.2s can't really do much with the extra air.
I hear polishing your throttle body can help a little though, but that's just what my camaro-fiend boss says.
Sadly, no more..
actualy ya can .....ill post links later but search for 2.2 2200 valve springs or rockers
