well what ive came down too is an oil cooler and a bigger rad is there anything else i can use please help me

Why do you want to cool your engine? Engines are designed to operate at a particular temperature. You would have to decrease what the computer thinks is operating temp before decreasing coolant temps, if you ever wanted to get out of open loop.
But, a larger radiator won't do anything for you unless you are boosted or have a large engine swap. A cooler thermostat will decrease your coolant temps however...stock is usually 180 degrees, but you can probably find one in the 160 deg range.

I doubt you NEED either. The oil cooler might not be a bad idea but is not needed.

You are correct in what you said, but I do not think there is enough cooling mods to cool our motors down enough to make the car not go into closed loop.
As for saying a oil cooler is not needed. I disagree. I think people would be surprised to know what the oil temps run on our cars.

i got a bigger radiator for my cavalier and it didnt make a different,,,, mine was shot...m radiator was a 16 mm and i got one of a sunfire with a 2.2 and it was a 24mm and it didnt make a difference

I only have a 160 deg thermostat on the stock radiator. Megatune wouldn't read much higher than about 165 durring cruising. And now with the cooler weather, it will barely go over 160 while cruising. Granted though, the quad 4 thermostats are physically larger than the Twin cam ones... so that could very well play a role in it as well. But I can assure you a larger radiator is not the answer unless the stock one is leaking or something where you would have to replace it anyways.

You can always elimate the stock fan and add two electric 12'' fans that will make a nice difference...I would also have to say an oil cooler is a great idea

Actually it won't. The fans only come on when the temp reaches above 200 degrees... And there is only water flowing through the block when the thermostat is open, above 190 degree's. The only way to cool the engine so that it shows up on your temp gauge is to get a cooler thermostat.
