well ill start with my ride i have a 98 cav z24 5 speed. i have two blowed up engines for these cars and im trying to rebuild them and everyone says that i cant use rods from another engine to have one full set of good ones can i use them and if not could someone explain why not if i cant. and another thing i have a really good set of scales would it help to make sure every piston and rod is the exact same weight like file a little off if it isnt. thanks for the help

There shouldn't be any reason you can't, you just can't use the bearings from one engine in the other.

Yes, balancing the rods is a good idea, but slight differences won't make a significant impact on stock engines, the balance shafts help to take care of any differences in the rod/piston/crank manufacturing process.
