Engine Swap

I have a 2001 2.2L Cavalier. This is the first cavalier I have worked on and I want to do an engine swap. Which engine is the best for this application?

you can swap in anything you want long as you have money and the knowledge.
but most common swaps are the 2.4 twin cam, the 2.2 ecotec or a V6

before you go and ask about info and what not search for it. its on here

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

And if you're really bold, you can swap in one of the old Caddilac HT-series V-8 engines (4.1L, 4.5L, 4.9L). They have the same bellhousing mounting pattern as the engines Red just mentioned, and if you complete the mod you'll have the honor of being the first to put a V-8 in a FWD J-body that isn't putting the power to the rear wheels. Plus when anyone comes up to you at your scene once they see that V-8 sideways in your engine compartment they'll either gawk or turn & run the other way. Of course, it'll keep you in need of new tires pretty regularly, given how the engine's low-end torque and the weight-transfer that is effected at launch will compromise front wheel traction to the point that when too hard of leave's attempted it'll just turn into an unrequested smoke-show.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".
