beretta radiator, anyone using one?
Friday, June 06, 2008 5:36 PM
i was just lookin around on here and saw some stuff on the technic z24 and followed this link http://www.v6z24.com/misc/concepts/technique now if you scroll down and read the engine section near the end you will notice they were running a 1990 beretta radiator. just wondering if there was any input from anyone on using one, or if ive found something that was overlooked and may come in handy for some of us

I would like to know where all the info came from. Back in the day when the car was first brought out there was no info on it. They did not even have real track times with the car. I have seen both cavalier Technic's in person, and when GM had one at shows they did not have much info on it.

Yes. A Auto and manual one. If you notice in the pictures on the link that is the manual one. The Auto one seem to have gotten around to most of the shows more than the manual one.

This link: http://www.v6z24.com/misc/concepts/technique
I'm pretty sure it was the auto one that got parted out, but not 100%. Yes both were red.

Listening and I'll be doing some comparisons of the 1990 Beretta radiator to the J-body radiator.

If it is the same thing, no need in doing any kind of a swap.
But if it's a bigger core by any amount, then the swap over would be well worth the effort of finding one or buying one new.
Hopefully this weekend I'll have a chance to get to the junkyard.

forget the one core two core bs. who cares. if the beretta one is better than the cav one and its a cheap easy swap then cool. itd be on the same scale as something like the secret cams, subtle and nothing huge but a nice upgrade. if you find anything out james def post up k

when i originally made this post and asked about the beretta rad there was nothing even stated about a 2 core, only thing on the technic page was a 1.5 in core so chris quit poppin up with ur two word posts trying to debunk everything cuz its not a 2 core. if u do find that 2 core rad uve been lookin for thatd be great tho.

If it doesn't rain this weekend like they say it will, I'll definitely take a good hard look and pull both radiators for comparison.
I might bring the camera and take some pictures too for the comparison.
I'll let you know Sunday on the findings.

.............Not thats im in the auto industry or anything...

WTF is a 1.5 core?

the 2.3 GTZ rad is the same @!#$ as a 2.4 Cav.

if you want a GTZ rad, give me 100 bucks and come get the new one (6 months of use) that's in my GTZ's.

the only thing that would make it better is for it to have more then one core, thus increasing its coolant amount and cooling capacity.

But, go ahead, find it yourselves then.

Matt, want to sell it?

Quote:

Heavy-duty radiator from 1990 Chevy Beretta,
1-1/2-in. core,
Cavalier righthand tank,
S-10 pickup lefthand tank,
integral engine oil cooled

Note, the site said 1 1/2 inch core, the right hand tank is from the Cavi Radiator, while the left hand tank is from an S-10 Pick-up. That would be parts from three different radiators to make one. That would get rather pricey buying them new and mostlikely buying from a salvage yard.
